What am I committed to by registering with Harten Group? Can I also sign on with other agencies?
We ask consultants to register with us, so that when a suitable role comes up we can respond promptly. Registering with us does not in any way limit your rights to sign-up with other agencies.
Do I need to be incorporated as a limited company to work as an interim?
No, you can be an interim without incorporating, trading as a sole trader. We provide information sheets on the options for new consultants.
What do I need to do in relation to HMRC regulations on being self-employed (IR35)?
HMRC's rules on being self-employed are complex and we can provide guidance. Occasionally we have had queries about consultants' status, but none of our consultants has ever been deemed an ‘employee’ of the client company.
What is the benefit to me of working through an agency, rather than finding assignments directly?
Once registered, the provider will match your skills and experience with details of interim assignments they receive from their clients. The benefits are that you don’t have to market yourself or negotiate daily fees directly with the company and all the administration concerned with contracts, billing and payment is handled for you. The provider can also act as an intermediary if there are discussion points arising during the project.
Does it cost me anything to use Harten Group?
We are paid by our client companies; our service is completely free to consultants.
What support services does Harten Group offer me?
We offer a range of complementary services including guidance on setting up a business, tax, marketing, career guidance, a regular newsletter and even social events!
