UK based pharmaceutical company A medium sized pharmaceutical company needed to decide whether to bid
for portfolio of products being outlicensed by a multinational against
a tight timeline. If the opinion was positive, a proposed bid price would
be needed based on the current revenue stream from the dozen products,
which was almost £25 million.
A successful Phase I contract house needed a business feasibility study for extending their range of services to patient studies. Our consultants conducted the market survey covering over 100 potential customers in the UK & internationally. In addition to quantifying the market need, the study identified some new areas of opportunity. Subsequently the Board committed to £1,000,000+ facility expansion.
A consortium of three venture capital firms were considering investing in a biotech startup company setup to exploit advances in molecular biology in two therapeutic areas. The consortium members needed an expert opinion of the likelihood of success of their proposed development plans. We provided two recognized therapeutic area experts to assess the company's business plan and offer a definitive opinion. The outcome was that the VC's did provide funding but revised the deal structure.
Product managers were required to respond to a series of questions posed by NICE about their product in the light of new clinical trial data. Our consultant, who was an expert in the relevant therapeutic area, researched recent clinical papers and treatment guidelines on which to form the basis of the client's replies. This information was subsequently used to develop and deliver sales representative training materials.
Our client needed to work out the implications of a corporate vision statement for the UK medical department. The ten year vision needed to be interpreted and then mapped out into a series of discrete, manageable steps. Our consultants facilitated a process of soliciting ideas from staff members, looking at the current position, what the vision meant for the medical function and how it might be achieved. Our work culminated in a workshop for key members of the department at which over a hundred discrete ideas were generated and implementation plans developed for the highest priority items. The results were presented back to an international management committee.
The functional director had a concern that the company may be falling
behind in the application of IT (information technology) in their clinical
operations process. Our consultants conducted an informal benchmarking
study of other companies' use of IT throughout the whole clinical development
process. The study identified current best practice among the participants
and some significant new technology vendor market entrants for the client
to investigate. |
